Unlocking the Hidden Biology of Disease
Every cell continuously displays a molecular snapshot of its intracellular proteins through peptide-HLA (pHLA) complexes presented on its surface. These naturally occurring complexes provide a unique window into cellular biology, revealing intracellular proteins that have long remained inaccessible to conventional antibody therapeutics.
For decades, drug discovery has largely been limited to cell surface proteins, leaving the vast majority of disease-relevant targets beyond reach. pHLA biology changes this paradigm by enabling the selective recognition of intracellular antigens, dramatically expanding the therapeutic target space.
At BioCopy, we harness this biology to develop next-generation TCR-like therapeutics that recognize disease-specific pHLA complexes. In oncology, this enables the selective targeting of intracellular cancer antigens, including cancer-testis antigens and neoantigens, creating new treatment opportunities for patients with advanced solid tumors who currently have limited therapeutic options.
